Critical reception[edit]

At Metacritic, which assigns a weighted average score out of 100 to reviews from mainstream critics, the album received an average score of 75% based on 9 reviews, indicating 'generally favorable reviews'.[1]

Sarah Ferguson of Exclaim! said: 'Successfully empowering old sounds, Blockhead conceptualizes and plays with mindful spoken word, soulful diva vocals and weird '50s-era television audio amongst ballsy jazz horns and instrumentation, voodoo singing and sounds borrowed from opera and classical.'[5] Rick Anderson of AllMusic gave the album 4 stars out of 5, saying: 'Everyone makes sample-based music these days, but very few people use found sounds and prefab musical snippets as creatively and thoughtfully as Blockhead does.'[2]
