Composers[edit]
All music in Minecraft was originally composed by C418. However, as the game got more popular (specifically starting with the Update Aquatic, according to Mojang[1]), others started to produce music and sound tracks for the game. Nether Update tracks were composed by Lena Raine and Samuel Åberg composed many recent ambient sound and music tracks. Some of the mash-up packs created by 4J Studios for the Legacy Console Edition include music by Gareth Coker. Music in Minecraft Earth is written by Shauny Jang, and music in Minecraft Dungeons was made by Peter Hont, Johan Johnson, and Samuel Åberg.[1]

Trivia[edit]
- Chirp uses the same accompaniment samples as 'The Orb of Dreamers' from the LittleBigPlanet series. The samples come from the Optigan disc 'Bossa Nova Style'.[2] C418 stated that it was coincidental.[3]
- 'Calm 3', or 'Sweden', is a Passacaglia, with a changing melody over a repeated bass line.
- On April Fools' Day 2014, Mojang played a bunch of villager themed pranks on the players, including temporarily replacing the track 'Hal 1', or 'Subwoofer Lullaby', with a version that had a villager singing along, as well as temporarily replacing all the menu songs with the villagers singing the Game Of Thrones theme song. This was reverted on April 2, 2014.
- 5 songs in C418's album '148' (Droopy Remembers, Vierton, Aria Economy, Biome Party, and Beta) are house remixes of some songs in 'Life Changing Moments Seem Minor In Pictures', 'Minecraft: Volume Alpha' and 'Minecraft: Volume Beta' (Droopy likes ricochet + Droopy likes your face, Dreiton, Aria Math, Biome Fest, and Sweden).
- Hal 3 (Haggstrom) is in septuple time (precisely 7/4 time).
- The song 'Biome Fest' if listened to carefully appears to be in the style of a Gregorian chant.
- The word 'Shuniji' (しゅにじ, 主虹) means 'primary rainbow' in Japanese.
- Axolotls are small Mexican salamanders that are critically endangered.
- According to C418, the track 'Mice on Venus' (game filename is piano3) was originally only a short piano solo, but was then changed later in Minecraft's development and an addendum was added, which made the track that we have currently.[4]
- On the Legacy Console Editions, the music that plays in survival mode never plays in creative, and vice versa. If a world is created in survival and then later switched over to creative, creative music starts to play after the survival music ends, but this may take a long time before the music changes.
- The word 'Rubedo' is Latin for 'redness', it was adopted by alchemists to refer to the final stage of creating the philosopher's stone, it is also likely associated with the red-colored environment of the Nether.
- The word 'Chrysopoeia' is an alchemical term that describes the creation of the philosopher's stone, or the transmutation of a given object into gold.
